Giresun software partner: enterprise software for hazelnut processing, quality and export

In Giresun, hazelnuts are now largely exported processed rather than natural: roasted, chopped, blanched, as flour and as paste. Each product type means its own recipe, its own quality analysis and its own customer specification. Choosing a Giresun software partner is therefore about a data chain that runs from the work order to the lab result, and from container loading to the export invoice. When one link of that chain stays in a spreadsheet, tracing which lot went into which shipment after a customer complaint can take days.

This guide is for hazelnut processors and exporters in Giresun, SMEs in the province’s organised industrial zones (OSBs) and fisheries businesses. Aksiyon Soft is headquartered in Samsun; we have no branch or office in Giresun. The coastal highway linking the Central and Eastern Black Sea keeps us close to the region: we deliver remotely and plan site visits around the project schedule for steps such as discovery, acceptance and go-live.

In short

  • According to the Giresun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the province exported USD 1.003 billion in 2025 and remained the Eastern Black Sea leader, with hazelnuts as the backbone.
  • For processed hazelnuts, software revolves around recipes, the quality lab and batch traceability.
  • Direct container shipping from Giresun Port means export documents must stay in sync with port and shipping-line data.
  • On the fisheries side, new harbour and cold-store investments put catch-to-dispatch cold-chain tracking on the agenda.
  • Aksiyon Soft is Samsun-based, works with Giresun companies remotely and plans site visits in advance.

How does Giresun’s economy shape its software needs?

Giresun Chamber of Commerce and Industry data shows provincial exports rising from USD 942 million in 2024 to USD 1.003 billion in 2025. The chamber credits the hazelnut sector first, along with production capability, industrial infrastructure and effective use of Giresun Port. The same statement notes that seven of Türkiye’s top 20 hazelnut exporters in 2025 were based in Giresun.

On raw material, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s 2026 crop assessment puts Giresun’s estimated hazelnut output at 86,440 tonnes. Part of the processing capacity is therefore fed by product from neighbouring provinces, which makes supplier and origin records even more important for software. We cover purchasing and licensed warehousing next door in our Ordu software partner guide.

OSBÜK records list the Giresun (central) and Giresun 2nd OSBs as operational, with land acquisition under way for the 3rd, 4th and Şebinkarahisar OSBs. The Giresun Governorship has announced that food manufacturing (hazelnuts) and textiles lead in the 2nd OSB in Bulancak, alongside firms in defence and conveyor systems, and that Giresun Teknopark opened inside the zone. The province falls under the Trabzon-based Eastern Black Sea Development Agency (DOKA).

Which processes should hazelnut processing plants digitise?

Cracking, roasting and recipe management

Fiskobirlik’s integrated hazelnut processing plant in Giresun combines a pre-silo, graded silo, cracking plant, fumigation unit, processing and packing plant and a quality control laboratory. That layout reflects the typical steps of the regional processing chain. In software, each step should open a work order, with input lots, output product, waste and energy use linked to it.

Quality lab and certificates

TEPGE’s hazelnut report stresses that contamination risk is a major issue for tree nuts and that proper conditions must be maintained during storage, transport and processing. In practice, moisture, sizing and contamination results must be stored per batch and compared automatically with the customer specification. If you run a laboratory information management system (LIMS), integrate it with the ERP; if not, set up a lean module for analysis entry.

Packaging, labels and recall readiness

Every carton or big bag of processed hazelnuts leaves with a label carrying production date, batch number and customer code. When labels are written by hand, tracing which carton came from which work order becomes hard during a complaint. Printing labels from the work order and scanning barcodes at dispatch cuts a recall drill from hours to minutes.

The gap we see most often is forward and backward traceability defined only on paper. A single screen that walks back from a customer shipment to raw-material lots and suppliers quickly becomes the most-used report in both customer audits and internal quality meetings.

Export logistics and the port

Giresun Port’s operator states that a new line with MSC now ships containers directly from Giresun that previously had to be routed via Trabzon or Samsun, which particularly helps hazelnut exporters. For software, this means booking, container number, seal, packing list and bill of lading data linked to the batch record. According to the Giresun chamber, processed hazelnuts go to markets such as Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Belgium, each with different document expectations.

Middleware and system integration

A typical Giresun processing plant runs scales and label printers, lab records, production tracking, an ERP, a GİB connection via a private integrator, and emails from the customs broker and shipping agent. Connecting them one by one produces a brittle web. A middleware layer talks to each system through one contract and queues events in order.

Giresun-specific examples: automatically blocking a batch and removing it from the shipping plan when a lab result falls outside spec; generating the export invoice draft and packing list from ERP data once container loading is confirmed; reflecting a vessel date change from the shipping agent in the customer portal; and raising an alert when cold-store temperature at the fishing harbour crosses a threshold. For the architecture, read enterprise integration middleware architecture; for e-invoice format changes, see the GİB UBL-TR update.

What can be done for fisheries and the cold chain?

According to information shared by the Governor of Giresun in July 2025, the fishing harbour under construction at Uzuncakum will, once complete, offer a cold store for 500,000 crates, capacity for 200 fishing boats and a modern seafood centre. The governorship has also announced that eight businesses will be set up under a DOKAP-backed project to develop juvenile trout production.

These investments call for catch and harvest records, crate tracking, cold-store temperature monitoring and sales documents in one flow. For small businesses, a simple mobile-friendly entry screen plus accounting integration is usually a sufficient start.

How should SMEs plan a phased digital rollout?

Many Giresun businesses run on an accounting package and a few spreadsheets. Rather than replacing everything at once, it is safer to start with the most painful process: batch traceability for a processor, document generation for an exporter, cold-store records for a fisheries firm. The first module goes live within a few sprints, is refined with user feedback, and then the next module follows.

Duration depends on scope, the cleanliness of existing data and how quickly external systems (private integrator, customs broker software, bank) provide test environments. The plan should also follow the harvest and export season; no system changes during peak loading weeks.

How do we work remotely with Giresun companies?

On Giresun software projects, collaboration runs on video calls, a shared backlog and a working-software demo at the end of every sprint. During discovery we review your production flow, sample analysis reports, export files and current system screens together. When we need to see the line in person, we add a site visit planned outside the season.

Checklist: before starting a software project in Giresun

  • Are recipes and specifications for each product type (natural, roasted, chopped, flour, paste) documented?
  • Can every lab analysis be traced to its batch and lot through a single number?
  • Have you listed which export document fields come from the ERP and which are typed by hand?
  • Is the data exchange method (API, file, email) agreed with your customs broker, shipping agent and private integrator?
  • Can your cold-store or silo sensors export data?
  • Is go-live scheduled outside peak loading and harvest weeks?

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office or representative in Giresun?

No. Our headquarters is in Samsun; we have no branch, reseller or representative in Giresun. We deliver remotely and plan site visits for critical steps.

Can we migrate our existing lab records to the new system?

Yes. Historical analyses can be cleaned, matched to batch numbers and imported. We agree during discovery which period to migrate; often the active season is enough.

Can you generate export documents automatically?

Documents such as the proforma, packing list and invoice draft can be generated from ERP and batch data using templates. Official steps like customs declarations stay in your broker’s system; we set up the data exchange.

Is there a fit for fisheries businesses?

Yes. You can start with a lean module covering catch or harvest records, crate and cold-store tracking and accounting integration, with data entry from mobile devices.

How is project cost determined?

After discovery, one of fixed scope, time and materials or a dedicated team is chosen. Assumptions are shared in writing and payments can be tied to milestones.

Where is our data stored?

The aim is to keep data in the cloud or on-premises environment you choose. KVKK (Turkish data protection) obligations, access rights and backup policy are agreed during discovery.
